Wow! One year we did that, but we have simple, old fashioned stoves so all that we did was melt the knobs.
Also, since the front panel was overhanging the knobs, we had to remove the blech before turning off the fire. We did that with pliers ( ) but couldn't hold onto it and the blech fell to the floor. Our newly kashered blech became chometzdik again and we had to buy a new one.
In the following years we learned to flip it, so that the overhanging side should be up.
