I'm transferring my old tapes to mp3s. They're categorized as follows:
1. Tapes I bought of shiurim
2. Tapes that I recorded from classes in sem
3. music tapes
I'm guessing I might be able to donate the ones I bought to a tape library, but what about the ones that I recorded myself? I don't think that all the classes I had taped were meant for outside ears, so I'm not sure if I can donate them to a library. But I don't know if I can/should throw them away, as they are Torahdik classes. I definitely don't want them lying around anymore (they've become a sore eye, as I don't listen to tapes anymore.) Any ideas on what I can do with them . . .

1. Donate to a tape library.
2. Can you call the sem and / or the different rabiam and ask them? I know our Sem used to have tapes from years ago of the same teachers giving earlier classes.
3. I'm sure you can find someone to take the music tapes.

If you are still fairly local to your sem (or can mail them) ask if they want them. When I was in sem there were lectures available to take out that girls had recorded years ago. The sem might want the tapes for their private library for their students.

Send them to me. I love tapes, as they last longer bec they don't scratch.
Or find more old fogies in your neighborhood!
You can also sell them at jewishusedbooks.com

Thanks for all your responses. I'm going to contact my sem to see if they'll want them. Otherwise I'll have to throw them out/burn them(?!) for confidentiality reasons.
regarding the possibility of selling them - I'll have an mp3 copy, so I don't know how halachically feasable it would be.
the how tos of transferring were discussed in the "tape to mp3" thread.
