Any suggestions on how to bargain with a car dealer on a new car?

I havent done it myself but the way how my dh gets a good deal is first he asks around every dealer he knows for the deal of the month.....he has lots of friends who work for leasing companies

he has this thing that he doesnt go in with a car that he has to have - he gets the cheapest one!!

...we lease - so he generally goes in on labour day or another holiday when they have specials
