What for? Makes a huge difference. Even in orthopedics there are specialists in specific issues. Like hip, knee, spine....

Also a really good specialist I know of REALLY botched up something with a baby. His expertise is with older children...

If you want you can pm me.

what is the overall issue? Is it a long-term concern?

I took my son to Dr. Simon once--he was 2 and we were concerned about his hip position....office was pleasant--we hadn't been very concerned, we had a limiting insurance at the time so we couldn't get to anyone else....but we had a nice experience. I don't think I would stick with him if there was a long term care issue...

Dr. Scher at Hospital for Special Surgery is great. He accepts limited insurance in the office--but as hospital privelege he has to participate in clinic hours--which are once or twice a month or so. But, be prepared for the experience to be different than a private office--it runs like a medicaid-clinic (longer waits, shorter time for appointments.)

Also, Dr. Otsuka is amazing. I know several children he has operated on--hip issues (children with significant disabilities--Cerebral Palsy and other neurological impairments, etc.) He was at Joint Disease for a few years but recently switched to Montefoire Children's in the Bronx.....

Oops I see now my second post didn't go thru.....

I would recommend dr. Otzuka at montifurie. I had a very bad experience with dr Furnari with a newborn. He's supposed to be good but I don't think he has treated a newborn with my baby's issue before.

We ended up w dr. Feldman and we see bh very happy. We needed immediate and long term asks couldn't wait till Otzuka s transfer went thru. Bh dr Feldman was the tight sheliyach.

Dr. Sink at Hospital For Special Surgery specializes in hips. He's also great.

Below is from my old post.

It depends what you need the doctor for.
Is it for an adult or you need pediatrics.
Ftr, its an orthopedic surgeon or pediatric orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Norman Otzuka at montifurie (Bronx)
Dr. Eric Furnari also at montifurie (Bronx)
Dr. Claude Scott at New York Methodist (Brooklyn)
Dr. Ernest Sink at Hospital For Special Surgery (NYC)
Dr. Benjamin Roye at Columbia (NYC)
Dr. Joshua Hyman at Columbia (NYC)
Dr. David Feldman at the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach FL. He does follow up appointments in NYC

It really depends on what the issue is. Every doctor specializes a different thing.
If you need any numbers or info let know
