my daughter was just diagnosed with a grade 2 vur
anybody ever heard of it?
from what I understnad is that her urine goes up instead of down and there fore can go to kidneys and infect them.
the dr gave me 3 choices how to deal with it
1- put her on medicine in order to prevent urine infections
2- not put her on medicine and take urine test once a month and catch the urine infection right away
3- go to a specialist and deal with it even though the dr said its not a bad case and he can handle him but I think I would go just to get a second opinion

isn't that reflux ? my friend's kid had the surgery and it was a major help.

My daughter had it when she was around 8 y/o. Our doc treated her with prophylactic meds (low doses of antibiotics) which she was on for over a year, and as she got older it resolved itself. If you haven't yet, do get her evaluated by a pediatric urologist (we live in Bklyn and used Ken Glassberg) who is the specialist most qualified to guide you in your final decision.

I used dr glassberg to correct my reflux (actually, my mother made the arrangements, I was a little kid) - gosh, I didn't know he was still around - it must have been close to 30 years ago! From what I remember, he was wonderful and I had NO problems since (after continuous back-to-back utis). If you live around the NYC area, it's probably worthwhile to ask his opinion.
