I have an interseting question: We've been taking out small bills from the Tzedaka pushka when we needed to and kept chesbon of what we owed back. At this point its like over $50. Do we technically owe it back?

having a hard time financially, dh out of job and im supporting... not giving masser.
Its not like were gonna pay it back now I just wanted to know if I should put it on the list.

Once you have designated money for tzedaka, even in your mind, let alone actually put it in a pushka, the money belongs to tzedaka. OTOH, since the top priority is to aniyyim of your own family, a rov may say it's ok to use it for the support of your children if you're in such bad straits. you have to ask. the halacha may be different if it's stam an unmarked pushka vs. if it's a pushka from a specific organization.

Whenever I borrow from the pushka I write a little IOU note with the amount, so when I empty the pushka I add back whatever was borrowed. DH told me that you should put back more than you took out, so I've started to add on a little extra.

I don't think you are allowed to borrow money once you have given it to tzedaka - ask your LOR.
