I was making my gefilte fish last night and I lost track of time while I was on the computer. suddenly dh calls into me that I should check on the fish because it was starting to smell funny. I go into the kitchen and it looked like the pot with the fish exploded! there was black gook all over the kitchen, even on the ceiling. ok, ok, I have been known to overcook gefilte fish once in a blue moon, but to the point of explosion???!!! it took an hour of scrubbing to clean everything up, but hey, I guess we got an early start on pesach cleaning!
I took the paper off the fish just to see if it was salvagable and the skin came off with it, but the inside was fine. good thing neither dh nor my 1 year old are major food critics!

I have had that happen - or near happen - many times.
I don't really like to boil fish or even meatballs, for that matter.

I find it doesn't bake for that much less of time, but it def. smells less and the cleanup is much easier!
And the kitchen isn't as hot.
