for the cooked rice that you make like ramom said, you are only supposed to drink the water of the rice which really helps wonders. I believe the rice itself loose all the good stuff since you cook for quite a while. I hope that your son is feeling better already.

We eat the entire dish. The rice cooks for a really long time on a very low flame, and it absorbs all 7 cups of water.
It's actually delicious once you add salt. It's soft and starchy. Yum.

Try tea - regular (black) tea very strong. I always gave that to my kids and it helped.

The main thing is to NOT give too much food and just small amounts at a time. Also the tea, just in spoonsful.

The stomach has to clean itself out and if you keep stuffing it, it will just act up again. However, give constant sips of water and tea so he doesn't get dehydrated.

If it continues for more than 24 hours, go to the doctor because if he is losing fluids too quickly, it could be serious.

If your child isn't hungry, I wouldn't push food at all, but plain water is important.

as NotjustNJMom said: raw apples wll cause more diarrhea....like most raw fruitsI've given the following fluids:

miso soup with some the contents of any acidophilis capsule added (the acidophilis has always been a good remedy)

water with a PINCH of salt & sugar. electrolyte drinks (but not Gatorade)

weak herb tea: luisa (lemmon verbenna), fennel or anise

boil some chunks of ginger in 4 cups of water for about 5 mins. add a little sugar if the child won't drink it otherwise

How long has the child have the diarrehea? How often and how loose? Is there fever or cramps? If so have you contacted the doctor?
