Last week my 51/2 month old baby had fever and it keeped getting higher. when it went to 102 I called the dr and went in when I got there it was 103. My dr could not find anything wrong so they did a flu test (negative) blood test and her white count was way high. So he did a urine test and the rapid test came back negative so he put it to do an overnight. he tried to do a blood culture but he could not get a vain so he gave her a shot of antibiotics and sent me to get a chest x-ray all they can get at was a virus but not know what so they tould me to come back the next day for another shot so she got one and they gave her 8 days of antibotics
On Monday my dr called me that the overnight urine culture came back positive and I have to come back on Wednesday. So I went and they took more urine the rapid was negative and so did the overnight is then my dr was telling me how rare it is for a baby to have a uti it could just be a fluke but there were 2 bacterias they found so I have to get her kidneys and blatter checked for a blatter reflux wear some of the urine goes back up. I have to do 2 tests one an ultrasound and a vcug one were they insert a dye up to her blatter to make sure it comes out and not go up I am so nevos about all this I have her scardriled to get it donre on tusday I was wondering if anyone had experience with this before I am reall hoping it was a flke and nothing is wrong.

Yes I have. Sounds like he wants to rule out Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) and it's mainly diagnosed in children. There's an increase risk of UTIs. Treatment is based on the severity. Last year my cousin found out her daughter had VUR and she was put on antibiotics and the urologist wanted to wait and see how it progressed. She's doing fine now, she had to go in for a minimally invasive procedure to repair it (which isn't necessary in all cases). Just talk to you're doctor about it. Did he refer you to a urologist? I know this is scary, just hang in there. Sounds like you're in good hands. You're doctor wants to rule out the possibility and make sure she gets the treatment she needs (whether it's just a UTI,a fluke, or not), if it is VUR it is treatable, please keep that in mind. Please keep us updated, let us know how she's doing. If you want post her name so we can say some tehilim for her.

My adult daughter had urinary reflux when she was a child. After a year on anti-biotics and some other meds, she B'H outgrew it. It was a tough year and she also had to go through all the tests, the sonogram of her kidneys, the dye test, etc.
Some children don't outgrow it and have a minor surgery to repair it. Don't fret. It is not serious. Go see a urologist. Having repeated uti's can ch'v damage the kidneys; you don't want that to happen.

A friend of mine's daughter had this. I think the testing was the most worrisome part of it. Like the pp's said, it is treatable. Hatzlacha
