I love butternut squash but find it really hard to cut.
Has anyone ever baked it whole? is that possible? how did it come out? I really want to try it

Never completely whole (I think you can microwave it though), but I've cut it in half, put it face down in a thin layer of water, and baked it like that.

Depending on how big the squash is, I'll either microwave it whole or boil it whole. If it's too big, I'll do like HY does.

Cooking it whole is the way I most often cook squash. I poke some holes in it so it doesn't explode, then bake it at 350 for about an hour (or more, depending on size). When it's done, I cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, then scoop out the flesh.
