I'm so excited! Dh and I are going to Israel alone without the kids! We've never been there without the kids so although I know all kinds of fun child-friendly activities to do there, I am totally lost when it comes to real fun.
We'll be in Y-m most of the time, but we're going into TA a little too.
So, any suggestions from my israeli imamothers?? (or anyone really)

When are you coming? There are lots of fantstic hikes but they're not for all weather.
There are lots and lots and lots of wineries. There are guides who have whole winery routes where you visit several. _________________ Certified Childbirth Educator

Wineries. The museums WITHOUT the kiddie exhibit stops (Israel Museum, Beit haTfutzot, the Kotel tunnels, the archeaological digs in the Old City - weather permitting). There are all the military museums...Latrun, Haifa, Rechovot... _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766

Another vote for Zichron Y.
Also walk around herzliya pituach ocean front. Daniel Hotel has a very nice spa with packages and a lunch. I only did a lunch with DH but it was very nice.

We're going in February. Only issue is we won't rent a car so we'd have to do things locally in Y-m
Wineries are a good idea though. It's a good day trip but I need more ideas. So far we've decided to go to Yadvashem, the kotel, shopping in Meah Shearim (seforim, judaica, etc) but we need some more ideas.

I remember once going to a bukharian shuk in Y-m that was very neat to walk around. There was a store there were they made laffas in an old stone oven and you took them home fresh and they were unbelievable.
Will you take buses when you are there. You can take a bus to places like ein gedi, you don't really need a car to leave Y-m.

I think you said that you were going to Tel Aviv. In Cholon, a suburb of Tel Aviv there are 2 museums (attached to each other) One is the Blind Museum and one is the Deaf museum. We recently went to the Deaf Museum and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend it. I'm sure you can take a bus from TA. and I would do both. You need to make a reservation.
By the way, you can't take kids under 9 so its the type of thing you can't do as a family unless your kids are all older
