we had tomato-based beef stew (ok, it's cabbage borsht with meat in it) with warmed-up pita. It was a whole meal, and my husband, who "doesn't like cabbage borsht", loved it!

Empanadas
Dough filled with meat.
4 c flour
1 c water
1/2 c oil
tbsp salt
mix into dough
put in fridge for 15 min
fry ground meat
with onion and spices
u can add any veggies u like
roll out dough and cut into circles with cup, fill it up with meat mixture
close them up and u can paint them with egg yokes...
Bake for like 30 min.

farfel (oven baked- easy and yummy)
couscous (the 5 minute one of the larger Israeli one)
orzo
parsley/garlic/lemon angel hair pasta
sesame noodles
penne with spaghetti sauce
mushroom barley
(would your husband eat potato borekas? spicy sweet potato french fries? wild rice with craisins, sticky brown rice, etc.?)
