title says it all. what time should a 12 1/2 yr old be going to sleep?

It seems to vary widely, depending on the kid and the family situation. Mine went to bed early at that age, usually before 9, because he was an early riser, and that's what got him enough sleep.

Depends on whne they need to get up
Mine gets up 6:30 am, so I insist he be in bed by 9:30 the latest. Not easy to enforce, but otherwise hes not functional in the am

He needs at least 8 hours of sleep. So it depends when he has to get up.

Really depends on the child.
For some they need 8 hours, some need 6.5 and some actually need 9 or more. You have to know your own child.

9:00 pm or latest 9:30 ... then again I need a lot of sleep
with an early schedule waking up rested and having time to eat and leave without rushing makes for a better day all around ... especially for hard working school kids
