My 18 month old gets petrified every time I put my older kid on a nebulizer ( he has a bad cough these days).
So my baby cries hysterically every time I turn on the machine.
Last night I noticed that when I put him to bed, he pointed at the humidifier that I put on this room for my older kid, and said 'boo boo' and got so nervous. I only got him into bed after I turned the humidifier off. He woke up in middle of the night crying boo boo. and when I put him into the crib tonight and he started again scared of the humidifier I realized why he was scared during the night.
What should I do ? his brother in the same room can't sleep without it.

Oh yes my kids were afraid of uncommon noises for a while. Is it possible to get a virtually silent humidifier?
