ask them to send you an envelope and printed matter in the mail.
you can also ask them for their tax ID # I/o to make sure they are a non profit.

Are there any other way to tell whether one is a legitimate charity organization or not, I get so many envelopes asking for tzedaka, but how can I tell what's legitimateand what's not?

I heard that you should be wary of sending to an address that is a PO box and not a real address.
