Wesley Kosher is open, but only for a few hours, so go quick! I think it's open till 12...
Rockland Kosher is closed, and I'm not sure about the other stores.
Good luck!

Thanks, too bad I didn't see this before I left, I went to Rockland and All Fresh and both were closed so I ended up buying overpriced stuff in Pathmark... oh well!

What then is it, I wonder? We just celebrate a plain ordinary day, I guess.

Purim is 1/2 a yom tov. If you can blast music from a car you can shop. Anyway, since lots of people are out to buy last minute things it's not a stretch to assume stores will be open, hoping to catch those last minute shoppers such as myself. There were other cars behind me trying to see if the stores were open, and plenty of frum shoppers in Pathmark...

which means that the cashiers dont get to celebrate. I used to work in a grocery, as a cashier. Purim is a day to spend with family, not a day to stand in a grocery catering to last minute people who just cant pull themselves together. That's why Pathmark has a Kosher section. If you forgot to buy stuff on Taanis Esther, too bad on you. Everyone has a right to celebrate, whether we can blast music or not.

They all have some Hispanic cashiers and I'm sure they can find a heimishe supervisor to work half a day. No big deal.

As it happens, Rockland and All Fresh dont have any managers willing to work on Purim. And yes, I know them to be able to say this.

A holiday, but not a yom tov, can you drive a car, listen to music, carry without eruv, shop etc on a yom tov?

I seem to remember learning what a nice yom tov chanuka is, as well as Purim. All the kids songs we used to sing growing up said that too. Guess everyone must be wrong. Oh well.
