Hi there
Perhaps this should be in the "Vacationing/Travel" section, but I thought I might have better luck here...
Does anyone know of a nice, beachy, resort town close to NYC (ie. within 90 minutes or so)?
We live in Ottawa, Canada and will be vacationing in NYC. We have 8 days and I thought that it might be a bit much to spend all that time in NYC. So we decided that maybe we could spend a couple nights in a resort town nearby. Anyone know of any nice places in Connecticut, NY State, Vermont? Or other places??

Seaview and Ocean Beach on Fire Island is nice to visit. Accomodations will not be 5 star there though.

If you can deal with the extra hour of travel, I'd say Margate or Ventnor, near Atlantic City. Nice beaches. Some kosher food. Lots to do.
There are beaches on Long Island and in Northern New Jersey as well. Even in Connecticut. But Margate is much more of a resort IMNSHO.
[BTW, Ottawa is closer to Vermont than NYC is. Vermont is not exactly known for beaches, though.]
