I signed up with Sprint in February. I've been getting bills every two weeks, seems they've got two accounts for me. I spoke with a customer care rep on Friday, spent over an hour on the phone til she figured out the problem and voided one of the bills. Also credited me close to $100 in charges such as: I was being charged for service of a third phone line, when I only have two! Anyway, at the end of it all, I said I'm closing my account. The rep said I signed a contract and if I close my account now I will owe about $300 penalty for terminating my contract before the year is up.
I said, mail me a copy of the contract. The rep said, we don't have to mail you a copy.
I said, the reason I'm backing out of my contract is cuz you have given me a darn hard time here with charging me for stuff I shouldn't have been charged, and by billing me on two different accounts when I have only one account, and I've already spent over an hour on the phone with you folks. It's not like one nice day I say I'm walking away from my contract. It's just that I've been so inconvenienced by you folks, I've gotta get out of this contract, because who knows what next month's bill will bring.....
Here's another thing: When I took this plan in Feb. the guy at the shop said to me not to sign my name on the contract cuz in case I'll want to walk away from it Sprint will not be able to hold me accountable for the $300 penalty, as my signature does not appear on the contract!
I have had T-mobile prior to Sprint, never had problems with them, stuck with them even beyond the contract period.
Never occurred to me a company can make such awful errors in their billing that I'd need to walk away from my contract!
I wonder what's gonna be with the $300 penalty. Any way I can fight this? As I've said before, it's the company's poor service that's driven me to walk away.
Thanks in advance for your input!

my husband finds errors on our Verizon bill quite often. Sometimes it's only $8 but many times it has been a lot more. CHECK YOUR BILLS, don't blindly just pay!
