Location is everything! Can range from denim skirt to long dress, from what I read on Imamother.

Ruchel is right- it does depend on location.
Where is the vort gonna take place?

You will probably be best with something you would wear shabbos afternoon. A nice sweater with a short skirt, or a dress should be appropriate.

I think a nice cardigan and skirt should be fine.

dressed up weekday (like a "rosh chodesh" outfit or chol hamoaid)
or dressed down shabbos- not overtly fancy

something nice- but not to flashy....

wear black- this way whichever way it swings you'll be covered.
like others said, also depends on where it's being held- in a hall, go dressier, in house, more casual, etc.
when I'm not sure, I cover both bases: if I dress towards more weekday, I wud dress it up with nicer jewelry and nicer shaitel and if I go fancier I wud dress it down a bit with simpler shaitel and jewelry this way both sides are covered and I'll fit in nicely no matter what

I would avoid black, it's more for a sad event, I think.

Used to be, 40 years ago. But nowadays, frum weddings are a sea of black...on the ladies' side! I'm insanely tempted to have a dress made in fuchsia satin just to liven things up. It would also make it easier for dh to find me when it's time to go home.

I think that the more Yeshivish weddings tend to be a sea of black nowadays, but you'd be surprised at all of the color popping up at other 'just plain frum' weddings! Fuchsia satin would fit right in!
