We have a little water filter in our apt, just on the kitchen sink. BUT in our new apt we are getting it on the whole plumbing system. I imainge that's what they have too.

Now why does the water have to be filtered? Am I missing something? Question

I believe its because of the chance of bugs getting in the water.

I assume they're talking about Starbucks in NYC. Apparently there is an issue in NYC only that there can be minute tref critters called copepods (not cocoa pods!) in the water. Frum people were told they have to filter water being used for food and drink, so they can no longer get even a drink from a water fountain outside unless they know the stuff is filtered. Seems very weird to me that this would be a problem in NYC and nowhere else on the planet, seems even weirder, considering how old the NYC water system is, that this suddenly cropped up a couple of years ago and no one heard of such a thing before, but there you have it.

In NYC they have a problem with microbes in the water.

There is info all over the place about how starbucks only uses filtered water. Even if you buy a bag of their coffee it says to make it with 'fresh filtered water'!

I have NOT but Rabbi Blumenkrantz has shown us when he gives us his shiur at Toprah Bites in the city. And it's been said that C.H. is part. buggy.

Personally, I go by what Rov Osdoba says, but DH does NOT ...... so since he wants it, the filter is his inyan.

Chen, I recently read an article about the criters in the water. It is only NYC and a few other places that have the problem and it has to do with the water being from a natural cistern? Most of us get water that is filtered by the water co., but in NYC this is not the case. Wonder if I can find the article. It said if you put a cloth of the tap and run it, then take the cloth off you can see the bugs on the cloth.
