I'll do my best:
my dear ima
I'm sending this letter
to say the things I've never said
of my impresssions as your daugter
thoughts are going thru my head
(the next few, I'm not sure on the order)
as far back as I can remember
you said shema with me at night
you stood beside me during hard times
you.______________________________
you made our home a house of torah
encouraged dad to learn each day
___________________________
and you instilled it in our hearts
now your children have grown older
I ___the things you used to do
not only did you build your own home
but Ima you built my home too.
well, it's a start!

This song is one of my favorite camp memories:
My dear Imma,
I'm sending this letter to say the things I've never said
Of my impressions as your child,
These thoughts are going through my head.
As far back as I can remember,
You said Shema with me at night.
Each week I saw you welcome Shabbos,
I saw your candles burning bright.
You made our home a house of Torah,
encouraged Abba to learn each day.
You stood beside him during hard times,
You gave him strength in your own way.
Now your children have grown older,
each one has gone their separate way.
Yet still we follow in your footsteps,
you made us what we are today.
Now your daughter is a mother.
I do the things you used to do.
Not only did you build your own home..
but Ima, you built my home too.
Ima you built my home too!
(I still get teary eyed )

actually, it's not a classic folk song. it's a 60's protest song. it was written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter.

I always found this song beautiful too. I don't know where the tune comes from maybe someone can help.
It is also appropriate for the time. I left out a few words if someone could fill them in that would be appreciated.
Far over distant hills
The air with anxiety fills
Yemei Haslichos has already begun
Tefilas are directed to (some hebrew word!!).
A young Jewish boy of five
His parents are not alive
A christian he has been brought up to be
A siddur is his only memory.
In a dream his parents appear
They tell him Yom Kippur is near
Alas the message he did not heed
The dream they had to repeat.
Chorus:
Shuv El Yosod ???
Bederch Hayshar Telech
For the Mitzvas which have been deprived
-----------------????????
To go to Shul he does at last decide
He sees Mispallelim standidng side by side
Inspired by Talesim he stands by the door
And till the tears he can hold back no more
Hashem here is a Siddur in my hands
These words I do not understand
Accept these Osiyos as Tefillas to you
And open Sharei Shomayim for every Jew
Chorus:

is anybody happier because you passed their way,
does anyone remember that you spoke to them today,
it a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said,
does a something something some thing, now with promise look ahead?
chorus:
did you make the day or loose it, was it well or sorely spent?
did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
now as you close your eyes in slumber do you think HaShem will say:
"you have earned one more tomorrow for the things you did today"
maybe theres more

This was a favorite when we were growing up
used to think my mother was the Shabbos Queen
She stands so regally with royal grace
And whispers to the King of the Universe, Hashem
From a very special place, behind her covered face
I know that she’s not asking Him for diamonds
My noble mother doesn’t ask for gold
She’s asking Him to help me study all the Torah’s ways
And to let her eyes behold the joy as she grows old
CHORUS:
Oh, and when I grow up
No matter what life brings
Hashem will give me the strength I need to handle it
And I will walk by the lights
Of a thousand Friday nights
And the Tefillos of my mother, who always had her candles lit
My mother turns our house into a palace
Her wisdom and her warmth both make it so
She bentches licht and I can hear her tender feelings speak
Without any voice or words but the kiss on my cheek
The Shabbos candles’ light is gentle and so soft
It smoothes away her forehead’s every crease
And suddenly the troubles of the past week disappear
All her fears and worries cease in this moment of peace
CHORUS
I think of how it hurts my mother when I’m doing wrong
When I do not let my good side show
But this week I’ve decided I will make my mother proud
Because how else will she know that I love her so?
Each mitzvah that I do will be a diamond
Each smile I give will be a precious stone
To put into the crown she seems to wear on Friday night
And when I am fully grown, I’ll wear a crown of my own
CHORUS
And here's another one we love:
Yisrael,Yisrael
where have you been all these years
I've been awaiting your return,
come home let me dry off your tears
I recall as my young bride
how you were faithful and true
Since then you've wandered to strangers
who have tried to make traitors of you
Don't you be fooled by their lies
Their only aim is to lure you away from me
Won't you believe that it's true
Yisrael, I'm waiting for you
HOw long, until when
will you endure all their scorn
Though you've been beaten by winds and rains
you still are my rose among thorns
Tattered gown, shattered crown
your garments are covered in mud
still you continue to wander
the earth has been soaked with your blood
What are you hoping to find
haven't I given you all you could wish for
come back and we'll be together
I'll be here waiting for you
Oh, to behold your countenence
the sound of your voice fills my palace
only then my dear one
will you experienced true happiness
Tell me it's only a dream
tell me your heart and your soul are still here with me
wake up and we'll start anew
Yisrael vekudsha brich hu---chad hu

The stanza I bolded was left out:
And yes, I also understand the words to have been written by Shani Feder.
Btw her sister said the word in the song is "Dad", not "Abba".
My dear Imma,
I'm sending this letter to say the things I've never said
Of my impressions as your child,
These thoughts are going through my head.
As far back as I can remember,
You said Shema with me at night.
Each week I saw you welcome Shabbos,
I saw your candles burning bright.
You made our home a house of Torah,
encouraged Abba to learn each day.
You stood beside him during hard times,
You gave him strength in your own way.
You taught us all about the mitzvos
Showed us the right way from the start
We always saw your love for Torah
And you instilled it in our hearts.
Now your children have grown older,
each one has gone their separate way.
Yet still we follow in your footsteps,
you made us what we are today.
Now your daughter is a mother.
I do the things you used to do.
Not only did you build your own home..
but Ima, you built my home too.
Ima you built my home too!
My dd added a couplet of her own at the end:
I'll put this letter in the mailbox
And then the mailman will send it to you.

Loving the memories! I sang many of those with my kids!
And I sang "One Tin Soldier" back in the 70's, lng before my life changed.

Tearjerker warning! I know the tune but have no way of conveying it:
Father's telling me a story
His arms around me tight
I feel secure and safe
Once again it's Pesach night
Suddenly a knocking
A sound I feared so long
The German guards are here
And my Abba is not strong
Erenu velo atah
I know the time draws near
When belief becomes reality
And all doubts disappear
Derech Kochav MiYaakov
Moshiach's Hashem's tool
Who will join us all as one
Yes that shining star will rule
I hold Mommy's hand so tightly
For we're without a home
There are so many victims
And yet I feel alone
A soldier's seen approaching
I reach for Mommy's hand
Now she's one of six million
And I don't understand
Erenu velo atah
I know the time draws near
When belief becomes reality
And all doubts disappear
Derech Kochav MiYaakov
Moshiach's Hashem's tool
Who will join us all as one
Yes that shining star will rule
He went off to join the army
To sacrifice his life
A chayal in the army
So we won't live in strife
Word came in this morning
Of a hero in the war
Death in a burning tank
Now my brother is no more
Erenu velo atah
I know the time draws near
When belief becomes reality
And all doubts disappear
Derech Kochav MiYaakov
Moshiach's Hashem's tool
Who will join us all as one
Yes that shining star will rule
He goes out to join his friends
From the window I peer out
See him remove his kippah
"Leave it on," I want to shout
I suppress my anger towards him
For I know who's to blame
By straying from Abba's words
I put out that Jewish flame
Erenu velo atah
I know the time draws near
When belief becomes reality
And all doubts disappear
Derech Kochav MiYaakov
Moshiach's Hashem's tool
Who will join us all as one
Yes that shining star will rule
