Please, please contain your excitement ladies, but I am descended from THREE Mayflower passengers.

Another branch goes back to the 1400's in Kent, England.

Again, please hold back your admiration, if you can.

So what. We were moved in a Mayflower truck ;-)
Actually, I think that is pretty interesting. Do you have any genealogists in your family to trace the unbroken chain?

Actually, it's a product of April showers.

I've got chassidim on one side of my family tree, yekkes on the other. some of them were probably pretty chareidi, I imagine. some I know were not.

I'm trying but failing to see what point you are making.

Hey me too! Well, my great-great grandfather or something was close to the Satmar Rebbe. I'm 50% Yekke (on my mother's side).

I am solidly MO though LOL.

yes, I did the research back to a certain point, and there's a Mayflower society that has traced several generations after, so I linked them up. That's my yichus, LOL.

So many of the people around them, the most rabid anti semites, had Jewish blood. The criteria for "having Jewish blood" were carefully decided to NOT include any of them by an Inquisitor who himself had a Jewish great grandparent Rolling Eyes
In the mean time, they still had (more distant) Jewish cousins and there is historical proof they were aware of that... Other "interesting" people were in the same case like Godfrey of Bouillon, Charlemagne, and others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.....names

Isabella was the direct descendant of Maria de Padilla, a mistress of Pedro the Cruel, King of Castile. She was a Jewish woman who converted to Catholicism and her children were later legitimised. It's even possible that Isabella was halachically Jewish, if it went through the female line. And other branches of the family also had Jewish connections.

If I had any recognizable yichus, which I have not, I would deny it. If I had it, I would have to live up to it, and I vastly prefer to live up to my own expectations rather than other people's expectations of me based upon who my antecedents were.

Though of course, being Jewish, we're all saddled with other people's expectations of us based on who our antecedents were.
