I make a tomato base (fry up some onions, add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, crushed red pepper, etc) simmer for a while, then add heavy cream.
yum!
sometimes I saute sliced mushrooms in butter with the crushed red pepper separately and add the cream to that, and then mix the two sauces together when it gets hot.

I've never tried it but I guess you can seed them and crush them up...
when I have fresh tomatoes I like to saute garlic and basil in olive oil with the chopped tomatoes and then add some salt and pepper and cheese and toss it with pasta...yum!

Quick and easy!
3 cups penne
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1/3 cup cream cheese
fresh basil
Heat tomato sauce in skillet. Add cream cheese - keep stirring till it's melted in...add cooked pasta and toss. Add some fresh bail if you want on top. It's really good!
(makes 4 servings)

I personally didn't like the results but one recipe I tried called for fresh tomatoes and then instructed you to boil them, peel them and then blend in a food processor.
