Hi, I'm looking for a doctor who is a real mentch and patient and is also good professionally.
I heard about Dr. Weinreb in Flatbush. Anybody know him? Do you recommend him? I had an awful experience with a doctor who has serious temper problems (and sooo many ppl go to him) and I can't handle it and I want to switch, but I can't go doctor hopping every day so I want to make sure I am making the right choice.
(or if anyone knows any other good doctors in Brooklyn that take medicaid)
Thank you.

I very recently switched to Dr. Weinreb. I only had one visit with him, but so far I am pleased.

Saw him as the OB at my friend's delivery, not impressed to put it mildly.

I switched to him for my last pregnancy. I was very happy with him, BUT in my 7th month, he had a midwife join his practice. they were planning on splitting deliveries and I could have been her first delivery. this made me very nervous so I switched out; I didnt want to risk a newbie midwife delivering me.
However, a friend of mine who uses him and just had her baby last week said that the midwife is no longer with him. I dont know if he is looking for someone else to join his practice, but you should ask if he plans to have someone else join him and decide if you'd be ok with that.

I never had him as a dr. but I did call him once about fasting on yom kippur, when the rav told me to call a frum dr. he called me back within a few hours and helped me out. I was touched that he took care of me even though I am not and won't ever be his patiant (then again, he did stay at my house for shabbos once)

I am not impressed with what I have heard about him, mainly:
misses many births (and not because they are so quick)
highly FOR interventions
does not recommend a doula (what for if you're getting an epidural the moment you feel a contraction?)
awful bedside manner
my friend switched out in her 7th month!
he skipped one of their prenatal appointments in her 5th or 6th month, and rescheduled her for the NEXT month. her doula (not very "crunchy") told her she had to switch, because no honorable doctor would let a woman go for 2 months without a visit.

I was very happy with him. He is very easy going & at the same time very opinionated. He is very accomodating in returning phone calls & pushing in unscheduled appointments .

I just wanted to say, for the record:
Although I homebirth and encourage others to explore midwives/natural birthing, I HAVE seen nice OBs, and respect a woman's right to choose her provider/epidural, etc.
My opinion is not coming from my own preferences but from real shock at what happened during my friend's delivery. I was there as her labor support.

He is high on interventions, not naturally inclined at all.

You do know that most male obgyns are not abusers right? I was actually abused by a female obgyn. So your logic is flawed.

Can this thread be locked.
This is an old thread and the new discussion here is just mean spirited.
The numerous responses on the previous thread have said it all. He is a dirty sick man who has possibly irreparably damaged the lives of the innocent children he abused, as well as the lives of his also innocent parents, wife and children. Is he evil? Quite possibly. But we imamothers should be above opening this old thread just for salacious gossip. He is in the system and the wheels of justice are turning. At this point the only reason to discuss this would be a new thread on how to keep our children safe.

I didn't pick up on any of this from the previous thread
An I dense or is it possible that this information is so shocking that it would have to be spelled out, as it was on this thread, for me to pick up on it
OK anyway.... For the sake of the family, not necessary to discuss at length
Lock away
