Hi,
my 8 month old started solids about 2 months ago. In the begining it was OK, carrots, potatoes, sweet potato zuchini pears, apples, prunes, apricots, corn, oats, wheat all introduced without a problem. The issue is, as the amounts of food increased from just tasting to eating she is struggling with almost constant constipation. Last week she had the flu and we basically both stayed home an nursed all week and no constipation of course. I cut out bananas, and white potatoes and apples because I heard they cause constipation. I want her to eat solids, but I don't want her to be constipated all the time. Any tips?? What are good foods for a baby this age that won't cause constipation?

my son had the same problem, the ped told to give him prune juice. The problem went away by itself but I think it is a nice solution. Or maybe try to give him prunes, dried apricots, grapes and other high fibr foods.

I had the exact same thing. Once I started giving him more fruits especially prunes and I also started giving him juice until then he was only breastfeeding he has become much better. Good luck1

I think the carrots might also be a problem. We struggled with this at the same age with one of mine. Now at 2 1/2 she still has horrible issues!

What worked at that age was NO rice cereal, bananas etc. I found prune jars of baby food and gave that to her twice a day and that helped. Can't remember when you can start beans but I make a bean soup now that she loves. Now at 2+ she gets prune juice daily too.

At 8 months, primary nutrition is/should still be breastmilk (since you say you are nursing). So nurser her before meals at this stage.
