no- peptobismol has aspirin- dangerous for kids, and whatever he/she has has to run its course and come out. Give pedialyte and be patient. BTDT- it sometimes can take 10 days. Acidophillus helps as well. Ask your MD.

the dr told me to give pedialyte, which I did (actually, pedialyte is ou-d, so I gave him the generic). he didnt like it and didnt want it, but pedialyte is not like pepto. its more like powerade, meant to restore body salts and keep from dehydration.

Contagious at least as long as he has diarrhea but every virus is different. Keep Jim hydrated and give lots of hugs. Probiotic, white bread, and bananas also work wonders for this kind of thing.

My kids won't take pedialyte and I've tried both the drink and the ices.

Children and teenagers should never take any medication with aspirin.

rice cereal, apple sauce and bananas is the way to go. you can mix rice cereal into the apple sauce or a bottle. my son has been through diarrhea many times. careful not to give fruits.
