My baby just broke a jar of gefilte fish that was supposed to be for one of the seudahs, with guests. The jar was not shattered in a bunch of pieces.
The bottom of the jar broke off cleanly but when I cleaned the floor I saw some shards. I saved the gefilte fish in a container I looked at each piece and it looked clean, but I feel like I can't be 100% sure.
What should I do? Just through it out? Skip the fish course?
I don't really have the money for another jar.
thanks!

I would still throw it out. It's just not worth the risk. Hugs on the fish - I know it's so frustrating.

Gefilte fish jars can break pretty cleanly. Maybe was your hands with soap and rinse, then rinse each piece of fish in cold water, then feel around each piece carefully with your fingers.

NO! DON'T SERVE IT!

Throw it away and zol tzein a kapara.

Not worth the risk. Swallowing glass is extremely dangerous.

Throw it out. It's sad, but it's definitely not worth it.

Definitely DO NOT USE IT!

I work with glass and the tiniest sliver can cause damage. You would never be able to tell if a sliver penetrated something soft like gefilte fish.

My husband **insisted** that only the bottom part of the pasta sauce jar broke. And mmm....those shards tasted lovely in the pasta few weeks ago. UGH. The shards are tiny, but you can sure taste them. THROW IT OUT. Explain to the guests that the baby dropped it--no need to share the $$ part--maybe say she dropped them at 4:00, so you didn't have enough time to go out and buy another jar.

I'm sorry. But you're better off not risking it.

I agree with everyone else. For myself I might risk it, for my kids or guests-never.
