DH has been using his work email for everything and thinks he should get a personal account; what have you all used and liked? (I use a paid one for myself).

Gmail, but you need to get an existing user to invite you.

gmail has spam, too, but it goes into the spam folder, Maybe once every 3 weeks something leaks through to the regular folder, and almost never does "good" mail go through to the spam folder. Its very good.
If anyone needs a gmail invitation, PM me with your present email address, I'd be happy to send you an invite.

You usually only get spam/junkmail on hotmail if you've signed up for some sort of newsletter/jokes etc. on some website that then gave your email address out to others. If you make a brand new hotmail account and dont use the email address for some sort of public e-mailing thing (such as daily jokes/news) then you shouldn't get any spam.

I like yahoo, I find that their spam filters are pretty good.
Gmail is excellent.

I think that nowadays there's no reason to pay for an email address - unless it's through your cable provider.
