op here -
You know, in light of recent events in the Jewish community, I am definitely going to report this somewhere, although how and to whom, I'll have to figure out. I don't know why I instinctually didn't have a stronger reaction in the first place
When he asked for my dd, my dh responded no, that he can't speak to her, but he was too taken aback to say or ask anything more. I guess, as someone mentioned, it's possible (although unlikely) that this man confused my dd's name with mine, but I still would like to have a record out there of the incident.
My dh asked our neighbors where this man is now, and as far as they know, he lives in a home in a different state, although they haven't been in touch with him since his parents passed away a little while ago (our neighbors knew his parents, and he would tag along with his parents). My dh is trying to get more information.
