I have a cousin Noam Chaim. As for your comment about middle names. My husband was doing research before my son was born and he found out that for most of Jewish history one name was the standard and that having 2 or more names is a recent trend--there was a teshuva written (I don't think I'm making this up) by a gadol of recent past (Maybe R' Moshe) who said that one name is preferable. Among my siblings their children only have 2 names if a) they were named after s/o with 2 names or b)If the name was yiddish so that they have a loshon Hakodesh name. If you like the name Noam, and not naming after someone, no need for 2 names.

Moshe rabenu had 8 names.
Some chassidish groups give up to 5 names, as well as Italians. Nothing not ideal unless your rav says so.
