Does having a white blotch on some fingernails really mean not having enough calcium or is that an old wives tale? My 11 month old DS has that, and I'm just curious. He usually has a yogurt a day... His next well visit at the dr is in a month, so I can really ask then, but I was just curious if anyone knows what it really is. Tia!

its usually a sign of low calcium and even if he is eating enough calcium rich foods, he may not be absorbing the calcium. ask the dr to check his vitamin D levels.

Hmm, what about when you don't have the half-moon at the bottom of the nail? Does that mean something?

It's actually a sign that he banged his nail bed.
