Sinus infection. Decayed food stuck between teeth (not usually a prob with a 5-y/o b/c they have big spaces between their teeth, but if dd's teeth are close together, she should be flossing.) Decayed tooth. Something stuck up her nose. Decayed food particles on the tongue--have her brush her tongue, esp. toward the back (which unfortunately can cause gagging) Dry mouth from not drinking enough liquids or from certain medications like cold remedies. Not having eaten in too long. If it's only now and then, it's probably not a systemic disease. Mention it to the pediatrician and the dentist next time your dd goes.
