I quite often wear a denim skirt and I wear it with black tights and boots in the winter, I don't see what's wrong with it. I'm really fussy about what I wear and to me it looks fine/nice...not nerdy in any way

Is nerdy really an insult? I wasn't the posted who posted the post, but I'm a self confessed nerd...or geek, or whatever. Just wondering, if I should be more insulted more often?

Also, I think if you're wearing black opaque tights and a denim skirt (I'm assuming its a knee length or just below skirt) you should also be wearing black boots, not flats or sneakers.

I wear a denim skirt with black tight all the time and I wear it with flats.
Its always a dark denim skirt though, I wouldnt wear a light color denim with black tights.

Not sneakers, but ballet flats are okay. Boots or heels give it a more dressed-up look, flats are more casual.

And even sneakers are okay if it's a very long skirt.

Either the skirt needs to be a dark denim, or the top should be black.

Its a taste thing. I've worn black tights with a denim skirt, but I don't like the look of the more formal black against the very casual denim.

Denim skirts cry out for paler, patterned, fun tights. Particularly if boots are worn, and just a sliver of tights visible, bright or patterned tights are best.

Maybe we have to define nerdy. If there's some objective definition, well, I don't know. But generally you have to know what the norm is, and how nerdy reflects or comments on that. If everyone dresses that way, it's not necessarily nerdy.
Or maybe it is, from the outside looking in? Or maybe even from the inside? YMMV.

Now I need help with something: I tend to see combos of three words, sometimes two, with a certain balance, as being rock band name candidates. Please help me from posting to immediate reactions on "Black Tights Nerdy." I need your support, all of you.

Knee length or calf legnth denim skirt, black tights or nude tights, sneakers is a very common look around here. Some add socks.
