I am looking for things, other than splenda and stevia and xyletol.
What are some actual foods or syrups, juices, whatever, that could be healthier than sugar substitutes and also healthier than honey? Or are there non?

Is this something from a natural food store? I never heard of it. I have to learn how to say it in hebrew. Thanks.

well, they are both very different. Splenda is an artificial sweetener derived from sugar. safe for diabetics. Agave is the sweet nectar of a plant which means it should be all natural as they say. it is very sweet, so you use less of it than you would use sugar.

If you want good suggestions, you have to explain what "healthier than honey" means.

Sweeteners used in my home: apple juice concentrate, fig syrup (made at home), date syrup, ground dates, maple syrup.

I also live in Israel and I just bought the agave syrup. I think you could get it at most health food stores. I got mine in Ramot's new shopping mall (they have a mega bul there and in that store is a health food store)

I would go for blackstrap molasses as there is a tremendous amount of nutrients in blackstrap molasses.
OR I would use dried fruits, raisins or dates or figs. I actually don't like figs as I find the so horribly sweet that they are almost indigestible to me, but my dh loves them.

Seraph has a recipe for the fig syrup that would probably work on all fruits. I'd really like to try something with dates as that is my preference. A mixture might be really good.

Figs are a laxative.
