really? I've had about 5 different ovens, and none of them did that.

Believe it. I had ovens in two apartments that did this.

Me, too. It's really, really, REALLY annoying.

I have a blech, but for Friday night I sometimes just heat my oven up and then right before candlelighting, I turn it off and leave it closed until serving.

My oven is gas, digital and beeps 4 times then stops. That's why I suggested OP test how it works in advance.

My oven is digital and doesn't have a shabbos mode.
I found out how to turn off the 12 hour shut off so it stays on all through shabbat.
I leave it on 180 degrees on bake, not convect (convect has a fan that goes on and off when you open and close the oven)!

Also make sure you don't have a light that goes on automatically when you open the door.

Good luck!

I don't have a shabbos mode- my oven is about 20 years old. I raise the temperature before shabbos until it is really hot, put the food in, lower it a bit until just before shabbos and then turn it off. food is really hot and you don't have to wait for lights to go on or anything.

A few suggestions - tried & tested:

1. Old fashioned "hatmana". Put a towel on a bed, put the hot pot/pans on it, cover with another towel and then with tons of pillows & blankets.

2. I've used 2-3 tea lights in the oven with no trouble.

3. Try & see if you can put tea lights under your pots/pans (not pyrex though!) on the stove top. It's a matter of adjusting the right heights.

4. Can you hook up your oven to a Shabbos clock?
