Starting therapy for myself. Any words of encouragement, hope, advice, personals, etc. are much appreciated. Thanks!

Best of luck! It has helped me accomplish what I wanted and was well worth the time, effort, and expense.

Good for you! It is a brave step and I wish you the very best!

Remember, therapy is hard work so be a little gentle with yourself, if you need to be.
I find it is best to have a little quiet time to myself before diving right back into my everyday life.
Even if it's just the train ride home, I put a little music on my ipod and let my mind settle down a bit.

Also, someone told me this once and I have remembered it all this time.
I didn't develop these issues overnight or in just a few months, so it will not be fixed overnight or in just a few visits.

If you want to, come back and update us! Hug

Kudos to you for taking this frightening step. But you'll come out a better, healthier person once you do the work. Remember that therapy can make you feel overwhelmed and sad at times. It's normal.

advicE? be as honest and open as possible- you will get the most out of it that way. Also, if something bothers you about the therapist etc, bring it up- otherwise its a waste of ur time and money! good luck !!

OP here
thanks all for your kind words. I have been going for some weeks now. I like it but it's loads and loads of hard work to rectify that which needs to be fixed. I know I shouldn't think this way, but I get nervous about what will be once I finish; I wonder how motivated I will be to keep pushing myself. I hope to not need to go for very long...
