someone mentioned to me about a program in some schools and seminaries that the girls go to ppls homes and help out with the kids etc.
how does this work?

In most of the high schools they have a chesed program where the girls have to do a certain amount of hours of chesed. They can help an elderly person or help kids with homework or any thing else. You did not mention if u are looking for someone. I know that Bais Yakov in boro park has a list of people that need someone. Perhaps you can call the school if you are looking for a girl.
