Flour and sugar are probably the hardest things to eliminate. You can cut down for sure, but to eliminate completely is a real chore.
Is there a food your child loves to eat? I would start there with cutting it out. An attraction to a certain food may mean that it is a food that causes trouble. Then I'd go to dairy and eggs. A lot of kids cannot handle the processed dairy products we are encouraged to consume for calcium.
If that brings no results, I'd do the white flour and(/or) sugar as the doctor suggested. And I'd try to get some clarification on that from him, as to why he suggests those are the trigger for eczema.
