Can anyone tell me about the Rabbanut Eilat hechsher? It is Rabbanut mehadrin? Just plain kosher?
Would you know what Rav it's under?
Thanks so much!

any town's hechsher is "rabbanut"; there are some towns that have a "mehadrin" hechsher in addition. I don't know that Eilat is in that category - personally, if I don't know the rav, I don't eat it.

It is definitely not mehadrin and of the Rabanuts, is probably one of the weakest.

Mehadrin doesn't mean much, either. There is no fixed standard and it might not be any different from rabbanut. It's only as good as the rav giving it. Just a FYI. There are many different mehadrin hechsherim with many different standards.

I hope you won't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to give you information. Rabbanut mehadrin is not one hechsher. Rabbanut Rehovot mehadrin does not have the same standards as Rabbanut Yerushalayim mehadrin or Rabbanut Tel Aviv mehadrin.

Mehadrin means the rabbanut of that place has extra standards. It also means they are not obliged (as they are with regular rabbanut hechsher) to accept any food with any rabbanut hechsher.

Otherwise it means nothing. You have to find out from that particular rabbanut what their standards are for their mehadrin hechsher. And then find out how much you are willing to rely on that specific rav/ mashgiach to uphold those standards.
