I noticed recently with my 17 month old baby that he will look upwards with his eyeballs. I did some research which freaked me out saying it can be something thats called upper graze having to do with seizures chas vishalom. Has anyone's children ever had such a thing? When he does it he has a shy look but it scares me. Should I go to a neurologist or eye specialist?

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't you first go with your baby to a pediatric ophthalmologist for a regular eye exam, and then he would suggest the neuro ophthalmologist if he feels it is necessary? Also, what if the child does not do this while you're at the doctor's office, can a doctor still figure out what is going on without actually seeing it happening?

OP, think positive. If you don't check it out, you'll just keep on worrying...once you check it out, the doctor will steer you in the right direction, either by having you see a neurologist, possibly eye drops or glasses, or whatever is necessary. Then you'll always know you did the right thing for your child. Hatzlocha!

My grandson has been doing the same thing for a while, and we have been ignoring it, because he seems so cute...now that I saw this thread, I, too, am concerned that we might have overlooked an important medical issue. So if there is anyone out that that has been there, and done that, please post what the doctor said, and if there is a cure for this...also what type of testing would the eye doctor/neurologist do? And what are they looking for?

Wouldn't it be fastest to get your child into either your family doc or an urgent care clinic? or an emergency room?

I know someone who delayed while she fretted about who to take the child to. It took weeks of deciding and hemming and hawing. I don't know if getting to a doctor of any description faster might have saved the child's life, but it was in the school office, where the father of a boy overheard a conversation about this issue and said 'what the heck are you delaying for? get to an emerg NOW.' He is an ophthalmologist, but he knew what he was hearing was not normal and was a bad sign. It was a brain tumour. In a three year old. A fatal one. A family doc would have picked it up too.

Anyways, if you are that concerned, get to a doctor, any medical doctor and find out whether you really have something to worry about. The doctors will figure out what specialists you need when they know what problem the kid has if any. I hope it is nothing serious. Still. Don't delay.

I meant to say that the advantage of getting to a doctor quickly is that if it is nothing, you will also know sooner instead of having to fret for weeks on end waiting for an appointment....
