Depends if it was stolen before or after they opened it up. I would at least want them to know what was in there. After that, I'd rather not know what happened to it. (recycled, stolen, broken, lost, etc.)

shouldn't or wouldn't? It's not your fault it was stolen...if they know you sent a gift they should definitely tell you and thank you for your thoughtfulness, anyhow. besides, you might have insured it or otherwise be able to get it replaced. pbviously if it was stolen en route and they never got it, you wouldn't get a TY b/c they don't know you sent it!

If it happened after they opened it there is no reason for you to know, any more than they should tell you if they broke it afterwards.

When a friend of mine got married, somebody stole the presents from the hall...
The young couple and their parents had to call the guests and ask them what they gave so that they can have a refund from the hall...

my sister had her wedding gifts stollen in the hall... It's exciting to open your gifts after your wedding, but of course, for her, there was none. of course she couldn't send out thank you notes

I'd have thought having a safe in the kallah's room was common practice.
I guess not.

I would not want to know--why should I feel bad to no purpose? If it arrived damaged or was stolen before delivery (that is, they opened the box and it was empty or parts were missing), then yes, b/c I may have insured it and want to submit a claim, but if they received the gift and then it was stolen--that's their problem, not mine.
