Hi and happy cleaning everyone!
According to my LOR:
1st option - put in self clean cycle, but really not needed, you can easily do option 2 since manufactures specify NOT to put into the clean cycle.
2nd option: wash the grates, burners and stove top with soap and water, let dry. turn fire on high for 5 minutes Then put on blech (be careful it shouldn't be too wide and burn counters!) and leave fire on for another 5 minutes.
After that it is not necessary to cover, even the stove top!
My LOR is not known as a "maikel", but he is practical and to the point.
A happy and Kosher Pessach to all!

DH does it himself. It's really not expensive to buy an aerosol can of gas and a blowtorch attachment that goes on top of it. You replace the can of gas when it runs out. The whole contraption is no bigger than a large can of hairspray. I can tell you where to buy one here in Jerusalem, but I bet you can find something similar near you.
Much cheaper and easier to DIY. |
I guess it depends where. Here it costs nothing. I walk them down to a place by the mikvah, give them to the Yeshiva bachors, wait about 2 minutes, and get them back
