we spent the day at the beach. I slathered her with sunscreen but she still came home with flaming red arms and legs. I gave her a cool bath and covered her in aloe vera gel. she does not seem to be in pain and is sleeping peacefully.
A quick search online indicates this might be an emergency and that I should take her to a doctor immediately, as she is under one year.
Do you think this is urgent? What would you do?

Ouch, I would take her to the doctor although it's not technically an emergency. Sunburn on a baby that young can be dangerous. Aloe is soothing it, not healing it. He will likely give you a medicated cream to heal it that is safe to use on such a young baby.
