I'm sure there are threads about this already but I can't find them right now... but what are some Hebrew (not Yiddish) girls' names that don't end in an -a sound? We have a 1st name picked out that has 4 syllables and ends in -a, I think something shorter and with a different ending would sound best in the middle. Ideas?

In Israel at least it is both. Noam is also a girl's name there now...

I forgot Shulamit. Shlomit is another one.

Might be overlapping some suggestions, but there are many "-it" names you could use. Yehudit, Chagit, Shlomit, Orit... I don't like them much, but to each her own.

There's also Miriam, Yocheved, Esther, Tamar, Rachel, Avishag, Avigayil, Avital, Eshdat (not sure how to spell it, I know a girl with this name), Yael, Michal, Hadas, Ayelet, Meirav, Meital, Rut... hope that helps!

Perhaps you'd care to share the name you chose and we can then think of a name (not ending in 'a'!), that would flow nicely.

There are zillions of names satisfying this one criterion. Give us some more criteria to help us narrow down what you are looking for.
