If someone davens a lot to be able to accomplish something where mazal is involved, and they are successful, who should get the credit? Should they be pleased with themselves or think that all credit goes to hashem?

Hashem is above mazal.

I'm not quite sure I understand you. Hashem decrees whatever happens. There is no other force, ch"v, that makes something happen.

Suppose a person thinks of an idea, davens to hashem to help it happen, does some things, and then idea works out. Should the person not be pleased with him/herself because Hashem did everything?

Of course they should be pleased with themselves and feel good about their accomplishment. They used their free will and strength for the good.

But they should also remember that Hashem gives them the health, strength, intelligence etc to do it.

I don't think it's contradictory.

they should thank hashem profusely that HE heard their prayers and found them worthy of becoming successful, and feel proud that they have such a good relationship with hashem

Good relationship with Hashem???
I dont think that is the right term, like for s/o who davens and is not succesful, that means they dont have a good relationship?...no just means hashem doesnt want it to happen at this point, or at all.

good relationship in terms of beleiving that hashem is responcible for their success or not, that they take time to daven and ask the one being who they know will help in the right time.

In the davening (can't remember where) we say "vehaser satan milfanenu umeachoreinu" (remove the satan from before us and from behind us). One explanation is that the satan stands before us to try to prevent us from positive accomplishments by telling us that we are worthless (he tells us that this is true humility) and after having accomplished something, he stands behind us to give us a pat on the back to tell us "well done, YOU did that well, YOU are a wonderful person, what a Tzaddik you are... etc."

Chassidus also teaches that before she accomplishes something, a person should boost her ego with the thought that she is capable of doing so.

After the accomplishment EVERYTHING should be credited to Hashem.

(I suppose that according to this, one could use the accomplishment to boost her ego the next time she wants to do something).
