Does anyone use a baby video monitor?

My husband just got me a baby video monitor for my birthday and my son uses a sound machine to put himself to sleep. The volume is really low and is only high when you press it....anyone have this problem?

The volume on ours turns on automatically when the baby makes noise. Could be that yours does the same?
