Purim is almost here! Can anyone post any purim songs they know? Did your child come home with any cute purim songs? Any old traditional purim songs that you grew up with? I barely know any English songs. I teach 3 yr olds. Thanks!

Also, which purim CD would you recommend? I want something that's mainly songs -English songs, not hebrew- to play in the background during playtime. TIA

(tune: CHAG PURIM)
Purim Day (2x)
What a happy holiday
Wear a mask, wear a crown,
Dancing all around
Twirl your graggers, RASH, RASH, RASH
Shake your graggers, RASH, RASH, RASH
Bang your graggers, RASH, RASH, RASH
On Purim Day

(tune: Hayvaynu Shalom Aleichem)
Let's dress in costumes because it's Purim (3x)
And we'll make lots of noise when we hear Haman's name
Let's clap our hands because it's Purim (3x)
And we'll make lots of noise when we hear Haman's name
Let's stamp our feet...
Let's march around....

(tune: a tisket, a tasket) *you can do this as a game in circle time like duck, duck, goose*
A tisket, a tasket
A shalach manot basket
Gifts of food we will bring
Happy Purim we will sing

(tune: if you're happy and you know it)
When you hear the name of Esther clap your hands....
When you hear the name of Mordechai shout HURRAY...
When you hear the name Achashverosh stamp your feet...
When you hear the name of Haman shout BOO ...

Hope this helps. I teach preschool too.

t.t.t.o. do your ears hang low

there are 4 mitzvos on purim we do
they are done by each and every jew
and a very good way to remember them
is they all begin with the letter mem

mishloach manos-food gifts to our friends
matanos l'evyonim to the poor we send
megilas esther we read twice
mishteh is a big meal, oh how nice
chag purim, chag purim

Sorry it's taken me a while to post here. My computer was down, and it takes forever to type long things on my cellphone.

I loved the Vashti song; it went over great this week!

What is the tune of the "Happy songs of Purim" song?

I also do one for the 4 mitzvot, tto Ani Purim, with similar but shorter words.

I also do the Tisket Tasket song, but I have the kids form groups first, and tell them that they are families. We "practice" each family holding onto the basket together to deliver to another family. The deliverers have to pretend to ring a doorbell. The recipients say, "Come in!" The givers say, "Purim sameach!" The recipients say, "Thank you!" And then, the recipients become the new givers.

The words I use are: A tisket, a tasket, a shalach manot basket, at least 2 gifts of food we give to family and friends.

This is tto Tumbala Laike. I don't know where it comes from, and I have seen the words several ways, so have changed it to what seems to work for me, and added more verses. For 4's and 5's and older, I sing it straight, for 2's and 3's, I hold up puppets as I sing it, so they can guess, and don't do the minor characters. I change my voice to fit each character. The kids join in on the chorus.

CHORUS:
Play with me, dance with me, join in my song;
Clap with me, tap with me, sing right along.
Purim is here, tomorrow, no more
So give me a penny and show me the door.

(I explain to the kids that they will hear me knock, and they should say, "Come in" and it will be someone in a Purim costume, and they have to guess who it is.)

I am a ruler who made a huge feast
I rule 127 provinces at least
I have a scepter, a crown, and a ring;
Do you know who I am? (**Kids call out "Achashveirosh!" I say, "Right!)
Achashveirosh the king.

CHORUS, then knocking

I am the tzaddik you find in the story
Without me, there would be no Purim glory
I would not bow when Haman passed by;
Do you know who I am? ** Yes! I'm Mordechai.

CHORUS, then knocking

I thought I was in charge of this place
Then I got pimples all over my face
The king wanted me, and I told him "no"
** My name is Vashti, and I had to go.

CHORUS, then knocking

We thought we could plot and never be found
But that Mordechai knew all the languages around.
We were planning so very hard
** We're Bigtan and Teresh, the king's evil guards.

CHORUS, then knocking

I thought I was great when I'd walk about
But now people use gragers to drown my name out
I wanted honor, glory and fame
Zeresh is my wife and ** Haman's my name.

CHORUS, then knocking

(This one is tricky!!)
I'm not a human, I have a saddle on
Haman wanted to ride me in the streets of Shushan
But Mordechai was special one, of course
Can you guess who I am? ** Yes! The king's white horse!

CHORUS, then knocking

Here I am, last but not least as they say;
Without me, there would be no holiday.
I put an end to Haman so mean
Do you know who I am? ** I'm Esther the queen.

TTO "Bingo":

I know a happy holiday and Purim is its name-o...
(Hebrew or English letters work.)

TTO Dreidel song:

I have a little gragger among my games and toys
And when I go to shake it, it makes a lot of noise.

My gragger likes Queen Esther, it likes good Mordechai,
It listens to the story as quietly as I.

But if you mention Haman, it makes an awful sound
So don't you mention Haman when my gragger is around.

Leitzan katan

Lakova sheli (either Hebrew or English versions).

I think I posted these, and maybe more, on the old and long Preschool Music thread. Take a look.
