my son is almost 6 months old and I noticed one of his thighs are fatter than the other one. at his 6 month checkup I asked the doctor what it is and he mentioned some long name beginning with a 'h'. then he said that since both feet are the same length, the bone is growing correctly so it has to be a muscle thing. he also said that it looks like it only seems to be his leg and not anywhere else on his body.
anyone else have any experience with this? is it something to be nervous about? I never had this with any of my other children...

Hemihypertrophy? Someone recently started a thread on it. I strongly recommend testing to find out whether or not it is. Children with hemihypertrophy have an increased risk of certain tumors, which would have to be monitored frequently if that is in fact the diagnosis.
