Did you/they see Wizard of Oz?
In my 8 yr olds class, he's the only one who saw the movie and in my 10 yr olds class, only him and one other kid saw it. These are kids who watch movies and tv. It's a classic!! 
In my 8 yr olds class, they're reading the book now.

Owned it as a kid, and read all fourteen books numerous times.
Also watched wicked, which is the story fro the witches pov
My kids have watched a veggie tales version of the story. ( they r small)

I think I tired to show it to my kids but it didn't grab their attention. They get to watch some things but aren't obsessed.
