for those of you who have only one oven, when you self-clean oven how long to you clean it for ?

does it depend on if something drips ? do you run the cycle longer in that case ?

if everything is dry - do you run a shorter cycle ?

The shortest self clean cycle I have is 2 hours, but I would chose only one if that were an option.

If there is a big mess, then I will use the 3 hour cycle, but if very little, or nothing obvious is in the oven, then I would pick the shorter cycle.

In general, I usually run mine 2 hrs, even if there's spills.

For Pesach, my Rav told me to do 4hrs.

2 hours once a year before Pesach -- the oven in question is used for pareve only and does not get greasy. I never use its self-clean cycle otherwise.

I don't self clean an oven that has not been at least cleaned a bit because if there is real grease there it can catch fire because it gets REALLY hot.

Our rav holds one hour is enough between milk and meat (although I rarely use it for milk unless it's the 9 days or something because I have a large toaster oven that fits a 9X13 for regular stuff). I put it on and just stop it after an hour. I self clean for one hour approximately 4-5 times a year and 2 hours or so 2 times a year.

Everything is fine. It wasn't a huge conflagration, just some smallish flames that consumed all the burnt-on oil and then went out. The only problem was that the glass on the oven door was all smoky and there were more ashes than usual to clear out, but the smoke came off with just a little effort.
